Judy Crane
The official start of the 6th Annual Beaufort Wine and Food Event will take place Saturday, March 27th with an unveiling of the original artwork by Judy Crane. This opening reception will be held at the Mattie King Davis Art Gallery on the grounds of the Beaufort Historic Site from 5 - 7pm. This opening reception is free and everyone is invited to attend. Judy Crane’s artwork was selected for the 2010 limited edition print as well as all the brochures and publicity for the Beaufort Wine and Food Weekend.
“I loved the painting the moment I saw it and knew it would be perfect for our print,” explains Event Chair Wendy Park. “ It is different than the other artwork we have had in the past, and it captures the feeling of perfectly paired wine and food which is what our event is all about.”
This piece will be just one of the new pieces available for viewing during Judy’s exhibit. Her work will be on display in the gallery through the months of April and May. Guests at the reception will enjoy appetizers compliments of Beaufort Grocery and special wines chosen as a preview for the upcoming festival.Judy was raised in California and graduated from the University of California at San Francisco. She moved to Raleigh in 1980 to take on the challenge of painting the beautiful local scenery that surrounded her.
In her work, Judy strives to capture snap-shots of reality and more importantly, her experiences toward them incorporating the atmosphere, textures and colors as well as how the eye would interpret the scene itself.
Judy’s work will also be highlighted throughout the 6th Annual Beaufort Wine and Food Weekend, April 21st –25th. Her feature painting for the event will be one of the items available at the live auction during the Gala Dinner, Saturday, April 24th.
