The featured artist for the 2009 Beaufort Wine and Food Weekend is Jaquelin
Perry. Jaquelin was raised in Elizabeth City and
graduated from UNC Chapel Hill. Her mother,
Jaquelin Jenkins, was also a well-known painter.
In 1989 Jaquelin took a painting class from
Elizabeth City artist Margie Sawyer, and she has
been painting ever since. She spends most of her
time painting in and around Colerain where she
and her family live on the Chowan River. Several
North Carolina galleries carry her work, and she
is active in many eastern North Carolina arts
councils.
